Where are you located?
In the professional building at 3001 Tutt Street, we are in unit 218. Sometimes, Google Maps does not always direct you to the correct location. The building is beside Raymer Elementary and across from Fresh Air Experience. Please ensure ample time to find the office, as the building can be confusing.
-
What should I wear?
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment. In the treatment rooms, there are bins provided for your clothing. Sheets will be used to drape you for privacy and comfort. We will need access to your abdomen, back, and limbs during the session.
-
Where do I park?
There is 90-minute parking available behind the building, just off Tutt Street. Please ensure you do not park in any reserved spots, as these are designated for specific users. Additionally, there is a significant amount of street parking nearby, providing alternative options for visitors.

Does Acupuncture hurt?
Most patients describe acupuncture as relaxing. You may feel a slight pinch or tingling when the needles are inserted, but it’s generally not painful. Many people fall asleep during treatment! If you do experience discomfort, we encourage patients to let us know so we can make the necessary adjustments.
-
What conditions can acupuncture help with?
Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can treat many disorders. It is commonly used to treat anxiety, digestive issues, allergies, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, menstrual imbalances, fertility concerns, fatigue, and more. At Acupuncture Kelowna, we treat most disorders. Please ask if you do not see your ailment. We do not treat sports injuries.
-
How many appointments will I need?
This varies depending on your condition. Acute issues may improve after just a few sessions, while chronic or complex issues usually require a longer treatment plan. During your first visit, we’ll create a customized plan based on your health goals.
-
Is Acupuncture covered by my benefits?
Yes, most extended health plans in BC cover acupuncture by a registered acupuncturist (R.Ac). We provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement. We also direct bill to most companies. We can direct bill to ICBC within the first 3 months of your accident.
-
What should I expect at my first acupuncture appointment?
You'll begin with a detailed consultation about your health history and concerns. This includes diagnostic questioning, pulse and tongue analysis, and sometimes abdominal palpation. Then, a personalized treatment will receive an acupuncture treatment. If you are only in for a Chinese Herbal Consultation, we will give herbs and go through how to prepare them.
-
Are the needles you use safe, clean, and disposable.
Absolutely. We use only sterile, single-use disposable needles that are regulated and approved by Health Canada.
-
What should I do or avoid before and after an acupuncture appointment?
Avoid heavy meals, caffeine, or alcohol before treatment. Afterward, rest, stay hydrated, and avoid intense physical activity to allow your body to integrate the effects. Any kind of stress - even if its good stress like exercise, sauna, or cold exposure - will diminish the effects.
-
Are there any side effects to acupuncture?
When performed by a qualified and registered acupuncturist using proper needling techniques, acupuncture is generally very safe and well-tolerated. The most common side effects are mild bruising at the needle site or temporary aching or fatigue in the hours following your session. These responses—especially after your first treatment—are considered normal and often indicate your body is beginning to shift and respond to the therapy.
At Acupuncture Kelowna, we follow all provincial safety guidelines and use only sterile, single-use needles to ensure your comfort and safety.
